Baptismal Catechesis

"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: 'Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word'."
The Catechism of the Catholic Church

This program is designed to guide parents through the sacrament so they may participate more fully in their child's Baptism. On the Tuesday evening prior to Baptism, the parish provides an evening of instruction to parents that will be having their child receive the sacrament of Baptism.  This meeting will help parents to understand more fully the significance of the signs and symbols that are used during the sacrament.  Time will also be spent reflecting on the rich history and traditions of our faith.  Parents are prepared for the commitment they are making to become the primary religion teachers of their children.  Together with the godparents they have chosen, they are about to take the first step on a life-long journey of faith with their baptized child.

The parish contacts are Karen Flaherty and Georgeann McGeorge.

Baptisms are held on the third Sunday of each month.
Arrangements may be made by calling the Rectory at (617) 846-7400.
