Kenyan Community Home Page
The Kenyan community that meets at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish, Winthrop is a Catholic community. However, a significant number of our membership consists of relatives and friends from other denominations.
Together, we proclaim The Risen Lord who gathers and unites us as a worshipping community.
We believe that the Lord calls us to know Him as the source of life (John 10:10). We also believe that the same Lord sends us forth to build life-giving communities, to teach others to love life and to engage in activities which transform our world so that there may be life for all.
We celebrate a
SWAHILI MASS
every First Sunday of the month at 5:00 p.m.
every Easter SUnday at 5:00 p.m.
and every Christmas Eve at 8:00 p.m.
followed by a Social Hour.
Other Sacraments
Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage and the
Anointing of the Sick
By arrangement
Other Activities
On the day of Pentecost and Mission Sunday,
we join the St. John's Parish choir at 10:00 a.m.
to animate the parish liturgy.
Each year, we fund a project for the needy.
We participate in the activities of the Committee for African Pastoral Concerns.
We organize educational and spiritual events on issues of concern to the community.
And we come to one another's aid, especially in times of need,
even if it only means offering a listening ear.
