LENT
The center of our Liturgical Year commences with the 40 day season of Lent, a time to renew our commitment to our baptismal call to be vessels of Christ's love for the world. During this season we find, that, in order to be more like Christ, we need to allow God to reshape our lives according to God's law of love. So, we fast, we pray, we do good works, not to earn any points on the way to heaven but to transform our lives. What we decide to give up for Lent may not be as important as how we decide to give of ourselves every day of the year.
THE EASTER TRIDUUM
We celebrate the Paschal Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil, as the high point of our Liturgical Year. This is one celebration that lasts for three days: from sundown on Holy Thursday to sundown on Easter Sunday. This is the time for us to stop all else in our busy lives and come to church to become centered in the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Plan now to be with us for all three celebrations during the Triduum!
EASTER TO PENTECOST
The power of the resurrection story is so overwhelming that it takes us 50 days to celebrate during which time the Church continues initiating new members through baptisms, first
Eucharist's, and confirmations. This all leads to the climax of the season, Pentecost Sunday, when we welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit into our assembly and into our lives. It is the Spirit that keeps the work of Christ alive within us.
Join with us in the many activities throughout the Lenten season that bring us closer together as a parish family and give us the nourishment we need to go into our everyday lives and bring the Good News of Christ to all.
